There are lots of different types of laser eye surgery (for example we use laser to treat some problems in the back of the eye that can affect people with diabetes). The laser eye surgery that most people know about is the laser to the front see-through part of the eye (called the cornea), which is done to remove the need for glasses. This is called refractive surgery and is generally quite successful. Every operation can have risks, and risks of laser refractive surgery include dry eyes, eye irritation, and, in very rare cases, scarring at the front of the eye that can make the vision permanently blurred.
