We’re starting to be able to tackle some genetic diseases by making correctional changes in an affected person’s DNA, so-called “gene therapy”. It is still quite technically difficult but new technologies such as induced pluripotent stem cells and CRISPR mean that these sorts of therapies may be easier to develop in the future.
