I don’t know *exactly* how many possible careers are possible in science as a whole as it is a huge field. Even within genetics there are different disciplines such as evolutionary genetics, clinical genetics, developmental genetics, animal models, gene therapy, etc – each of which will have different career options and jobs. Broadly speaking you can work as a research scientist either in industry, academia or not-for-profit, in media and science communication (for example in a publishing house), in science education (such as at a university), or in a medical setting. There are lots of options, and lots of very interesting (and rewarding!) careers in science .
