      Evolution and genetics are inextricably linked…
      Darwin came up with the theory of evolution without being aware of Mendel’s studies on genetics but the power is in the unification of those ideas.

      Yes. One of the key principles of evolution is inheritance – that biological traits can be passed to offspring. Darwin didn’t actually know how this happened other than it was something to do with sex cells. It took later scientists to work out the principles of genetics we know today.

      Without genetics there would be no evolution.
