Yes, I love my job. There’s so much variety, which makes it interesting. There are always a few things that I don’t like as much, but I imagine that all jobs have some part that is not as exciting.

One thing I’ve realised is that the more you work and show you enthusiasm for the work you do, the more opportunities there are to do other interesting things. I have been fortunate to do such a variety of work, often because I have committed to doing things I say I will do and trying to do them well. This makes up for the harder parts in a job (I always get the hard/dull things done 1st, so I have something to look forward to).

Yes I do, I love my job! Since I am currently a postdoctoral researcher (basically this means I did a PhD and am now working in a lab under a research head) I mostly get to do experiments in the lab. I have quite a lot of freedom in which questions I want to try to answer and how I want to go about doing that in terms of experiments which I particularly love because I basically get to think about my area of science every day and then play around in the lab trying to figure the answers out! It certainly comes with challenges when things don’t work but it is extremely rewarding when experiments do work and big ideas do pan out.

I love my job. It is a real privilege to be an academic. I get paid to research, teach and speak in the world about topics I feel passionately about and which matter very much to me.
