• Question: did your family have a scientific background?

      Yes – although not in biology, I’m a pioneer there!
      Both of my parents, and my uncle, studied chemistry at university, and my aunt and grandfather both studied (and worked/work as) civil engineers – so lots of objective thinking all around!

      Not really, no. My Mum wanted to study science, but she went to an all-girls school that didn’t have a science teacher. She was deputy head of a primary school before she retired. My Dad used to teach history. Both my Grandads worked in car factories and one of my Nanas worked in a laundry and then managed a shop. So not much science!
